Project String Power is the only non-profit music program in East Texas offering quality musical training in violin, viola, all styles of guitar, cello, string bass, bass guitar, guitar, banjo and harp. We believe that every student should have equal opportunity and access to develop skills for playing these instruments regardless of income.
Lessons are offered weekly by a team of seven professional musicians with weekly group sessions to prepare students for playing in an orchestra, rock band, bluegrass band, harp or cello ensemble. East Texas is well-known for its talented musicians, and Project String Power seeks to enhance this long tradition by providing opportunities for talented musicians to perform at local concerts and in recitals.
Project String Power has more than fifty students and the program continues to grow each month. Many of our students rely on scholarships to pay for lessons. Each scholarship for one year of lessons costs $660.
Donations of any amount will help to keep this program accessible to all students. Project String Power is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, and donations are tax deductible. Donors will receive a thank you letter with tax receipt, will be acknowledged in printed programs and are invited to attend all recitals and concerts.
Forms for scholarship applications and for donations are available below.
